1428 and this is another awesome story in this series, Alyssa James writes a compelling story of love in times that are hard with war between England and France, loyalties are strong and honour is also strong when you swear fealty to your leader but not always agree with the way they do things, can two people find a way to stay true to their countries but embrace the love between them that is so strong.
Lady Marguerite is a countess and loyal to her country of France she is strongly against the English King taking over her country and when she is offered a chance to avenge the deaths of her father and brothers she is keen to take it up, she sets of to the town of Rouen that is now held by the English, but what she encounters is nothing as she expected, never does she think an English knight would show her such chivalry and the attraction she feels is strange like she knows him already, is he the knight from her dreams, he couldn’t possibly be he is English not French.
Sir Richard of Winchester is in France fighting for his king, he may not always agree with his leader’s ways but his oath is true, when he comes to the rescue of a lady dressed as a peasant who can handle a sword he feels a pull towards her like he has never before but he also does not fully trust her, is she a spy, why is she here with her beliefs about the English King, he does know that he will do anything to keep her safe especially when he learns of her secret.
A beautifully written story filled with history, passion and such emotion as Richard and Marguerite fight through danger and resentment to find a true and strong love that had been spoken of many years ago. Marguerite is strong and independent woman who will fight for what she believes in, Richard strong, caring and so loving they really deserve the love they find, this is a fabulous story that I highly recommend and I am really looking forward to book 3. Another keeper Alyssa James.
