I do love a good Scottish story, who doesn’t love a man in a kilt, a strong man who does what he must to protect the woman he loves if that is you come along and meet Alexander Gordon as he woos the woman he has loved since they were children but Arabella Fraser has changed in the two years he has been gone, this is a story of heartbreak and courage and strength and love.
Lady Arabella Fraser is forced to marry Lord William Gordon an old man because her father insists it will bring power to the highlands and finally cut England out of ruling them, Arabella is devastated because the one man she loves Alex Gordon, her soon to be husbands nephew has left her, marriage to William Gordon is horrid he is a cruel man.
Two years later after the battle at Culloden where so many Highlanders have been cruelly killed, Alex Gordon steps back into Arabella’s life this time in the English uniform he is here to search for rebels and take them to prison, William Gordon is missing and Arabella has lost her father as well, this was such a terrible battle, but will Bella and Alex find the love they shared once?
Bella and Alex find that both have changed in the last two years but their love is still there but there is also a lot to overcome before they can be happy again. Cathleen Ross has written a story filled with emotion as she tells us what happened all those years ago the terrible things that the English did but she shows that love can still shine and that there are heroes who care who are strong and willing to do what it takes to find peace and happiness and that person is Alex and Bella is the perfect match for him with her strength and courage after all that she has been through.
I loved this story from page one yes it is heart wrenching at times but heart-warming as well as love shines through. I do highly recommend this story.
