We met Elspeth in the first book in this series and I liked her very much she was a true friend and stood up to all of the things that were happening around her, with her brothers killing spree and then his death Elspeth takes off to the Isle of Skye where her uncle Charles is determined to see her come back to society.
Elspeth has settled well into her chatelaine position on this beautiful Isle, she is happy to stay away from society they can be very cruel it was not her fault what her brother did, but when her uncle hosts a hunting party, not only do close friends arrive but there appears to be danger in the form of a stalker for Elspeth.
James has arrived with his brother and father he has loved Elspeth for many years since she rejected his marriage proposal years before, but he knows that danger is heading her way and he is determined to do anything to save the woman he loves.
Elspeth has never forgotten James and he still has her heart and when another marriage proposal Is given she gladly accepts this time but this in turn causes her stalker to become more determined to get her and anyone who stands in his way. They soon learn who he is and what he has been up to and it is a scary plot.
A very well written story that shows how evil some people can be but it also shows what strength, courage and true love can do when they stand up to the evil, I am very much looking forward to book three in this series, this is a book and series that I recommend to anyone who loves a historical, mystery romance.
