This one is set during World War 2 and starts with the bombing by the Japanese in Darwin when nurse Meg Dorset escapes on a truck filled with injured soldiers bound for Adelaide River to continue nursing the injured, here she meets Seamus Flanagan he such a flirt with his Irish accent, it is not long before Meg and Seamus are falling for each other but with war raging what will happen to them?

Meg is a young nurse and the bombing was scary at the best and meeting Seamus brightens her in many ways his words ore poetic and soon she is losing her heart to him and not only her heart, Seamus proposes and Meg is eager to say yes but then Seamus is transferred overseas to fight and Meg is transferred to help get a new RAAF hospital up and running in Townsville.

Meg is working hard with Doctor Ransom setting up the hospital and learning, she loves her work as a nurse so much, but then she learns she is pregnant. The last thing she wants is to give up her nursing and pushes through, Dr Ransom is kind and very encouraging of her situation and helps were he can, they are becoming friends but eventually she needs to go back to Brisbane to have her baby and sort her future out which she does really well, Meg is strong and determined to get back to nursing.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story it is filled with many emotions, and I am glad that a lot of things have changed since then, what Meg went through was heartbreaking but my word she had courage to stand her ground and with the help of close friends work towards the future, she is a passionate woman about nursing and her caring was wonderful. Yes there were tears from me in this one but also happy tears at the end, and it is one I would highly recommend, I do look forward to book 2 in the series.

My thanks to the author for my copy to read and review.
