This is a captivating and compelling story set in Krakow Poland 1939 just before the start of World War 2, it takes in what a parent will do to keep their child safe and shows the strength and courage that comes with keeping them safe and loved, I hope you pick this one up and come along for the journey, it is sure to keep you turning the pages.

Marie Karska is seventeen, she is a very bright young woman who lives with her father Dominik in the town of Krakow where he is a well- respected and pioneering doctor at the hospital, but Marie is thinking about her mother more these days and decides seeing as her father is not going to tell her anything that it is time that she does some research to get answers.

Dominik has worked very hard to get to where he is today and with war fast approaching and Marie asking more questions about her mother Dominik decides it is time to find her a husband, one that will keep her safe if he can’t, but Marie met the man she loves many years ago as a child the problem Ben Rosen is Jewish and Marie Catholic.

Nothing stands in the way when Marie sets her mind to something and firstly becoming Jewish then marrying Ben and then she is so determined to get to the bottom of her mother’s disappearance, but what she finds is the biggest twist, I never saw this coming there were other thoughts from me but never this one, I do highly recommend this book it is a fabulous story, so well written and so many emotions and such courage and strength, shown by the characters that MS Givney has bought to life on the pages.
