I am loving this series, action packed and filled with passion which is what I expect of Vikings whatever they do they do it with passion whether it be loving or fighting, I loved being back in Birca with Brenna and seeing her cope with her leadership, there is a lot going on. It is a fabulous book to lose yourself in.

Brenna has been Jarl for a few months now and she is being tested trying hard to get the newcomers to mix and unite and be one with the people of Birca and her council are not always good communicators and they live in a time of turmoil and raids so they need to be on their toes at all times with enemies all around. Brenna is fair and just and takes notice of what the Gods say.

Vali has just returned from his journey negotiating trade agreements and is looking forward to seeing the love of his life Brenna, although welcomed it is not what he expected it to be but he feels that she is being led by one of the new-comers Ivar and Vali does not trust him at all and this causes a few problems between them.

Trouble arrives in the form of a raid from Gorm who is known to have killed Brenna’s ancestors but from his arrival Brenna discovers a secret that has been kept since her birth and a battle must be won and the prophecy will be better understood.

This is another fast paced story that had me turning the pages, the battle scenes are true to Vikings and Brenna is a strong fighter never giving up she shows her strength and courage and can admit when she is wrong, and Vali he loves Brenna so much and never stops protecting her. I do highly recommend this one and look forward to book three and catching up with everyone again.
