I am loving this series four debutantes who caused a scandal when they were thrown out of the ladies academy they were attending form a group to find themselves husbands, but only rakes will do and this time Olivia de Vere might just about find her hero a scared soldier who is also known as a rake, this was a story that was hard to put down.

Olivia is an orphaned heiress and is kept practically a prisoner of her guardian her uncle, and with her cruel cousin wanting to marry her she is very determined to get what she wants and that is getting to know her neighbour, a Scottish Marquess. Her friends have offered advice on how to get to know him, and with the help of a cat Olivia finally meets her Marquess in rather unorthodox circumstances. The next meeting sees her offering to help with a problem but holding onto secrets about who she is.

Hamish MacQueen, Lord Sleat is scared on the inside and out some from fighting in the war against Napoleon and some that goes back a long way, he is a rake and has no intention of ever marrying he has a younger brother who can have the title. When a young child is abandoned on his doorstep with a note saying she is his child Hamish is not convinced but he needs to get back home to his family and fast, he needs a nursemaid for the little girl and his beautiful neighbour arrives at the right time and they are soon travelling many miles to his castle.

The journey draws them closer and when danger arrives just over the border into Scotland, Olivia finally tells Hamish the truth about herself and he maybe a rake but he is a gentleman and very caring and he steps up to save Olivia, it is not long before they are losing their hearts but Hamish is so stubborn about not loving anyone. I loved Olivia and the never give up attitude she has to win her man, she is beautiful inside and out and Hamish wow what a hero gorgeous caring loving and to see him fall so in love well there were lots of happy smiles. Thank you MS Bennett for another keeper and I am now very much looking forward to Charlie’s story.
