This is a very interesting story it is busy and fast paced there is a lot happening when well bread Florence Thackeray’s life is thrown into turmoil as her father decides that the family should move to New Zealand and this is in 1853 Victorian England. So her father and brother and she set sail but only two arrive in this strange new country.

Florence had left the man that she loved to do her father’s bidding life was not easy for young woman back then and losing her father on the trip made things even harder, and her brother Bertram was not much help when they arrived at the farm that was supposed to be her new life.

Florence is a strong woman even if men tend to be always telling her what to do, when she is forced into a situation that requires her to marry Scotsman Jack she is so naive and innocent but Jack is one man that has her best interests at heart, he is caring and a good man. But sadly life never runs smoothly and she has a few journeys that will change her completely there are so many ups and downs for her.

This is a really good story that I highly recommend I thought Florence was a fabulous heroine who stood her ground and grew into a strong caring woman my heart went out to her with the things that had happened and I look forward to more in this series.

4/5 stars for a great story
